Abstract Self-Portraits in Acrylic Paint

Louise's line drawing of her photograph seen below.

We used a website to help us abstract the photos of ourselves.

The grid helps us draw ourselves accurately.

We are going to be using acrylic paint on our self-portraits.

The grid on our photo is only a 1/2 inch grid.

But the grid on our paper is a 1 inch grid, so our painting with be larger than our photograph!

The line drawings are looking great!

I am excited to see the finished paintings!

Art II students have started working with acrylic paint.  Right now we are just experimenting with mixing colors and getting used to the feel of the paint on the paper.  We are using our abstract designs for our experiment project.  I think they are looking great!  I just love the vivid colors of acrylic paint!

Have you heard...

That we are drawing ears today?  Many students found the ears much harder to draw than eyes, and I would have to agree with them.  I guess most of us don't spend a lot of time staring into another person's ear.

But without a doubt, each student improved in their ability to draw an ear today!
