Today we create a value scale using blue paint. We learned that by adding white paint we could create paler blues, and when we added black paint we created darker shades of blue.
Then we transferred our small abstract designs onto large paper. Finally we began painting the top left section of our design using a monochromatic color scheme.

It's finally Friday!

Today we are giving a few students the chance to finish carving their linoleum plates. As they finish carving, the other students are watching a video on relief printing. Relief printing is the technique we are using to create our linoleum prints. We will begin inking and transferring our linoleum prints on Monday.

After the Relief Printing video, we watched a short art history video on the Renaissance.

The images above were used in our warm-up today. Instead of practicing our drawing skills, we reviewed our notes on balance by practicing our design skills. After the warm-up, students took a short quiz on shape and form. After the quiz, we reviewed our notes from yesterday. And finally we started working on designing and carving our linoleum projects. I'll have pictures of that for you tomorrow!
