We have had such a busy but great start to the semester. I can't believe it is already Wednesday. My students have done a great job turning in forms and fees. If you have not had to sign a newsletter and 2 field-trip permission slips, please ask your son or daughter for these forms. Also, I know there are a lot of fees due at the beginning of the school year and that money is tight. There is a $10 supply fee for art. Also, we are going on 3 field-trips this semester that cost a total of $7. Your son or daughter does have the option to sale 14 pieces of candy to cover the cost of the field-trips. And finally, your son or daughter does need some specific supplies for this class. You can purchase them all at stores like Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, and Ben Franklin crafts. Also, the art department has these materials for sale for a total of $18.

Today we are continuing our unit on the element of Line. We are starting class by practicing creating contour line drawings. Next, we spent some time studying our guided notes on line. We will be having a quiz on line tomorrow. And finally, we spent the remaining time in class creating a mystery line drawing. I call it a mystery line drawing because students do not know what they are drawing until the end of the activity. The project is divided into 16 sections and only 1 section of the drawing is revealed at a time. This activity forces students to really look at what they see. It also helps students train their eyes and hand to work together as they draw.
